There’s still time to “Remember the Good Old Days.”

Residents still have time to ‘Remember the Good Old Days’ at South Derbyshire’s popular Liberation Day.

Phone lines are open until Monday, April 23 for the free extravaganza, which combines a party like atmosphere with important messages.

The Safer South Derbyshire Partnership is hosting Liberation Day from 10am to 2.30pm at Gresley Old Hall, in Gresley Wood Road.

Guests will be treated to a variety of entertainment throughout the day.

An Edwardian music hall will be recreated by Little Pixie Productions to allow residents to step back in time to a night at the theatre. It promises to be an entertaining show, with sketches, music and songs such as It’s a Long Way to Tipperary and Down at the Old Bull and Bush.

Harmonic South Derbyshire community choir, The Breakaway Singers will also be adding to the sense of occasion.

The fun and frivolity will sit hand in hand with serious topics such as dealing with doorstep callers, fire safety, mobility, fitness, health and so much more. Attendees can also improve their balance and strength through a session of chair-based exercises.

Places are limited so booking is essential. Anyone interested in taking a trip down memory lane on Wednesday, May 16 should call the registration line on 01283 595795.

Chris Smith, Communities Manager for the Safer South Derbyshire Partnership, said:

“Liberation Day provides the perfect day for people to spend time together and get advice on key concerns that may affect them. It will also provide a sense of fun and understanding between the school pupils helping out and those attending, as they come together to enjoy such a memorable day.”

Free parking is available at Gresley Old Hall and local Midland Classic bus routes pass by regularly.

Transport to and from the event can be provided without charge for those who need it and a free lunch will also be on offer.
