The South Derbyshire Sports Awards are back for 2017 to celebrate talented volunteers and athletes going the extra mile.

Nominations are open for sport volunteers, dedicated coaches, community projects and talented athletes whose efforts deserve to be recognised.

The awards consist of 14 categories including Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, Disabled Sportsperson of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Winners will be rewarded at the South Derbyshire Sports Awards ceremony at Pingle School on 11 October 2017 where they will be put forward for the county wide sports awards, held on 9 November 2017 at The Roundhouse, Derby.

Cllr Peter Smith, Chairman of South Derbyshire Sport, said: “There are so many people who contribute to sport and physical activity across South Derbyshire, so it is really important that we take the opportunity to thank those working behind the scenes for their efforts - as well as applaud those who are competing at a high level.

“We are excited to see what unsung sporting heroes are going to be nominated this year.”

Nomination forms and more details are available.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 8 September 2017.
